The Student Success Center staff is committed to helping students take charge of their success at the University of Tennessee. Through academic support programs such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and other educational enhancement programs, as well as our website and referral to the university’s other excellent curricular and co-curricular resources, the staff promotes undergraduate student excellence and persistence to graduation.
The Student Success Center’s website provides not only students, but also faculty, staff and parents with a wealth of easy to access information designed to support student success, available not only through the center’s programs, but also campus academic advising and tutoring/ learning assistance. Our goal is to challenge students to create educational plans that position them to thrive at our university and beyond.
The Student Success Center is housed in one main location on campus, with additional tutoring offered in the Hodges Library Commons and Carrick Hall. Students seeking academic coaching and support may visit Greve Hall, 3rd floor. In addition to providing general Academic Coaching for all undergraduate students, the Greve Hall, Room 324, location is home to the following programs: Academic Appeals, Readmission Appeals, and Success Workshops, the UT LEAD Program, Tutoring, and Supplemental Instruction (SI).
The Student Success Center (SSC) originated in 2005 to provide students with academic support and assistance in managing the transition to the University of Tennessee. The SSC began as a virtual website listing campus wide resources and became an official unit with a physical space in Summer 2006. Since that time, the SSC has grown tremendously, to include all the academic support resources listed above, made available to all undergraduate UT students, and relocated to its current and more centralized location at Greve Hall.
