Your first year is an exciting (and sometimes intimidating) time, but the University of Tennessee is dedicated to making your time here – especially this first year – both successful and fun. Light the Torch: Thr First-Year Experience at UT brings together all of the pieces you’ll need, from pre-orientation to ongoing assistance throughout the year.
FOUR Important Steps
- First Assignment at UT—Light the Torch on Online@UT (Blackboard)
- Read your Life of the Mind book, submit your project, and attend your scheduled discussion session
- Complete the Class Lane 2.0 assignment
- View the “First-Year Challenges” video & take the online quiz
- Fully participate in Welcome Week!
- Explore courses such as:
- First-Year Studies 101 (FYS 101)
- College-specific first-year seminars such as:
- FYS 129- Freshman Seminars
- UH 100- Chancellor’s Honors First-Year Seminar
- CE 205- Exploring Majors and Careers
- Review the “Light the Torch: Your First-Year Experience at UT” website to make sure you start off your first year at UT on the path to success.
