The UT LEAD Summer Institute (UTLSI) is now preparing for its 10th year. It is a five-week, fully paid program for a select group of incoming freshmen.
UTLSI participants are underrepresented students from UT’s designated “Promise Schools” who are recipients of the Tennessee Pledge and Promise Scholarships or are First Generation Students.
UTLSI enrolls 40 students each year. Despite personal and cultural challenges that may complicate the transition to college, Summer Institute students maintain a retention rate similar to the overall retention rate for freshmen.
UTLSI is the summer component of the UT LEAD program, so students participating over the summer will continue receiving support alongside other UT LEAD students when the fall semester begins.
The 10th annual UTLSI program will be held July 7th to August 11th 2017.
