Academic Success Spring 2021 Resources

Volunteers,

I want to share academic success resources designed to support you as you set and achieve your goals for the spring semester. Our main priority is always your success, preparedness, and well-being as you navigate college life here at UT.

Academic Coaching & Advising
Academic advisors and coaches at UT are your best contacts for creating an academic plan, managing course loads, and navigating methods for studying and organizing more efficiently. Make appointments with both your academic advisor and coach through Vol Academic Connect.

Tutoring & Supplemental Instruction
Take advantage of individual or group tutoring for a variety of subjects through the Academic Success Center. Tutoring is available by appointment, both online and in-person, and by drop-in. View the spring tutoring schedule and make an appointment online.

Supplemental Instruction is an opportunity for students to work together to develop strategies to master course content, review material, and prepare for quizzes and tests during in-person sessions or via Zoom. View the spring schedule.

Success Workshops
The Academic Success Center hosts numerous workshops throughout the semester on goal setting, time management, test and midterm prep, and more! Learn more about the schedule, including workshop descriptions and Zoom links.

Vol Success Tips
UT has created tips for showing up and showing out in class, managing your time, organization, and more. View the Vol Success Tips, including videos from faculty and campus leaders.

Academic Preparedness Survey
Earlier this week, you received a one-question survey via VolMail about your ability to succeed academically this semester. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to respond to this survey so that we can best support your success.

Additional Student Support Resources
I also want to remind you of the following resources designed to support your holistic well-being.

  • 865-974-HELP (4357)—mental health or well-being concerns (available 24/7)
  • Student Health Center—currently by appointment only by calling 865-974-5080
  • Student Counseling Center—individual, couples, and group counseling

I hope these resources will assist you this semester, and please feel free to contact me should you have questions.

In the Volunteer spirit,

Amber Williams
Vice Provost for Student Success
