Biography

What do you enjoy most about working with UT undergrads?

I love watching students as they academically grow – as they experiment with ways of learning and adjust and evolve. I also greatly enjoy learning about people and hearing their stories (the “why” behind their motivation and goals), and I love playing some small part in helping them along their academic journey.

What is the most important advice you would give new students?

Be kind to yourself. Being a new student on a college campus involves embracing a lot of change and exploring new and deeper ways of learning. It will not always be perfect and that is okay. It will sometimes be a challenge, but that’s when we grow the most as humans. Have faith in yourself and know it is okay to ask for help – that’s why people like me are here.

What is your favorite place on campus?

All of the outside spaces! The landscape around UT has changed so much over the years, and I love all of the trees, walkways, and tables all around campus.

Why should students take advantage of the ASC?

The ASC is the perfect place for you to discover and refine learning strategies which can lead to better knowledge retention, deeper conceptual understanding, and better classroom outcomes. The ASC also offers study sessions, workshops, and supplemental instruction which provide additional opportunities for students to master classroom content. As the name suggests, it’s truly an office dedicated to supporting your academic success.
