To ensure the professional academic advisors in all colleges continue to advance their knowledge and skills, the University of Tennessee Knoxville has developed an academic advising career path with the following goals:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Articulate advancement opportunities to encourage employee retention in the\u00a0advising profession.
\u2022 Promote engagement in lifelong learning as an advising practitioner for growth\u00a0within the profession.
\u2022 Recognize and reward excellence in academic advising as well as contributions to\u00a0the UT community and beyond.
\u2022 Strengthen the alignment of professional practice across Colleges and Schools to\u00a0enhance the student experience.
\u2022 Integrate NACADA\u2019s Framework for Academic Advising Core Competencies to\u00a0identify development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Any substantive changes and\/or revisions to the Career Path will first be reviewed and approved by the Academic Advising Leadership Group (AALG) and then submitted for final approval through Human Resources, and the Senior Vice Chancellor and Provost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
