Michael Smith-Porter is the Chief of Staff to Vice Provost Amber Williams in the Division of Student Success.

Michael is responsible for project management of high-priority, complex projects and initiatives including research and policy development, university-wide student success initiatives, fundraising, and stewardship.

Michael joins the Division of Student Success from the Division of Enrollment Management where he served as coordinator for special projects and initiatives since 2018. In this role, he oversaw special projects and managed strategic partnerships for the Enrollment Management division, as well as planned vice provost sponsored events.

Michael earned both a Master of Public Policy and Administration and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
