Peer Mentors serve as a resource for new Vols during their first year at UT, both in and out of the classroom. Drawing from pervious experience PMs co-facilitate the FYS 101 or TRNS 201 courses with a professional staff member during the fall and\/or spring semester. PMs also support Big Orange Welcome during the first six weeks of the fall semester.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/div>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/utk.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_9YbPswnapDY5G7A\" class=\"btn btn-default btn-default btn-block\">APPLY NOW!<\/a>\n<p><div class=\"panel-group\" id=\"custom-collapse-0\" role=\"tablist\" aria-multiselectable=\"true\"><\/div> <div class=\"panel  panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h3 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"collapsed\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#custom-collapse-0\"\" href=\"#custom-collapse-0-0\"  aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"#custom-collapse-0-0\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"icon-collapse\" viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\"><path d=\"M0 7.33l2.829-2.83 9.175 9.339 9.167-9.339 2.829 2.83-11.996 12.17z\"\/><\/svg> Expectations &amp; Responsibilities<\/a><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"custom-collapse-0-0\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse panel-collapse collapse\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><\/p>\n<p>PMs will assist with various aspects of the preparation &amp; implementation of the New Vol Experience, that include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<p><b>FYS 101\/TRNS 201 Facilitation<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend &amp; actively participate in Peer Mentor Kickoff and Peer Mentor Workshop in the Spring 2025 semester<\/li>\n<li>Attend &amp; actively participate in a 5-week Peer Mentor training in the Spring 2025 semester<\/li>\n<li>Attend Tier 1 &amp; Tier 2 PM training in the Fall 2025 semester<\/li>\n<li>Engage in a section of FYS 101 or TRNS 201 during the Fall 2025 semester. In each section, PMs will:\n<ul>\n<li>Take class attendance<\/li>\n<li>Lead icebreaker activities<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate group discussions<\/li>\n<li>Share personal experiences as it relates to course topics regarding Life at UT<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate scheduled 1:1s with FYS 101\/TRNS 201 students<\/li>\n<li>Meet weekly or bi-weekly with each assigned instructor\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Be on time and present at all required First-Year Experience events, programs, and meetings<\/li>\n<li>Act as a positive role model for FYS students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Big Orange Welcome Support\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with large-scale events such as Torch Night, New Vol Fest, and New Vol Picnic<\/li>\n<li>Guide students through Academic Success Tours and presentations\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate group activities &amp; events for new Vols such as Bingo, Trivia, Arts &amp; Crafts, etc.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a mentor &amp; role model to incoming students by displaying responsibilities &amp; maturity\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Familiarize new students &amp; families\/guests with campus services &amp; activities\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Provide extraordinary customer service to all participants of Big Orange Welcome<\/li>\n<li>Work up to 20 hours during the first week of Big Orange Welcome<\/li>\n<li>Work up to 5 hours per week during weeks 2-6 of Big Orange Welcome<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General Responsibilities <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrate the ability to be reliable, responsible, helpful, &amp; flexible<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the ability to work &amp; communicate effectively with a group of people<\/li>\n<li>Show respect for others, &amp; a willingness to appreciate other\u2019s views<\/li>\n<li>Participate in small group GroupMe or other team messaging system<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with Team Leaders, instructors, and other FYE staff to develop and maintain program policies and procedures\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Regularly check Canvas, GroupMe, and email for First-Year Experience related communication\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>*This list is not exhaustive &amp; other duties will be assigned.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"panel-group\" id=\"custom-collapse-1\" role=\"tablist\" aria-multiselectable=\"true\"><\/div> <div class=\"panel  panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h3 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"collapsed\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#custom-collapse-1\"\" href=\"#custom-collapse-1-1\"  aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"#custom-collapse-1-1\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"icon-collapse\" viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\"><path d=\"M0 7.33l2.829-2.83 9.175 9.339 9.167-9.339 2.829 2.83-11.996 12.17z\"\/><\/svg> Eligibility<\/a><\/h3><\/div><div id=\"custom-collapse-1-1\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse panel-collapse collapse\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><\/p>\n<p>To be considered for a Peer Mentor position, each candidate must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
