A &#8220;holistic review&#8221; means assessing applicants by considering their entire background and experiences, not just academic metrics like grades and test scores. It&#8217;s a comprehensive evaluation that looks at the &#8220;whole person&#8221; to understand their potential for success in college and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Our admissions review process considered university is experiencing record growth in undergraduate first-year applications and, as such, saw <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW188651557 BCX0\">the<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\"> most competitive application pool in our 230-year history.<\/span> <\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\">For fall 2025 entry, UT <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\">received<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\"> 52,303 <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\">applications<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\"> by the November 1 <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\">early action<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW188651557 BCX0\"> deadline. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Prospective students with a <strong>4.0 UT-core GPA<\/strong> and a minimum of <strong>31 ACT<\/strong> were sent an invitation to apply to University Honors by the early action deadline. Chancellor&#8217;s Honors Programs applicants were informed in <strong>mid-December<\/strong> if they had been admitted, waitlisted, or denied to the program. Students originally waitlisted to the program were informed of final decisions in <strong>April<\/strong>. Initial decisions for the Haslam Leadership Scholars were released in <strong>mid-January<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4>Admissions Definitions<\/h4>\n<p>University Honors uses admissions terms as defined by <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.utk.edu\/fall-2025-status-update-definitions\/\">UT&#8217;s Office of Undergraduate Admissions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Admitted<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who received an admissions decision of &#8220;Admitted&#8221; to University Honors were admitted to the entering fall class. Admitted students should have confirmed enrollment by the May 1 deadline to reserve their place in the upcoming class and to complete the next steps, like submitting an on-campus University Honors LLC housing application and attending orientation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Waitlisted<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who received an admissions decision of University Honors
