\"StudentsIn the summer after their first year, Haslam Leadership Scholars participate in a mini-term education abroad program.<\/p>\n

This experience is designed to help scholars explore and understand their role as global citizens<\/strong> while developing a strong contextual awareness of leadership philosophies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During this program, the cohort explores global communication and leadership<\/strong> from many perspectives, including historical, contextual, and socioeconomic angles, on a micro and macro-level. Scholars engage corporate and non-profit leaders abroad while also\"Student participating in immersion activities.<\/p>\n

Through a series of site visits and intentional engagements<\/strong>, students gain a deeper understanding of effective leadership styles<\/strong> and communication tactics<\/strong> within an international context.<\/p>\n

Destinations change year-to-year. In recent summers, students have studied in Cambodia and Vietnam<\/strong>, Rwanda and Kenya<\/strong>, Costa Rica<\/strong>, and Ireland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest thing for us I think was the power of relationships and connection. There is so much to learn from others’ stories, and by simply listening and asking questions, we gained invaluable knowledge that can’t simply be found in a book.\u201d<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

In 2025, 100% of Haslam Leadership Scholars<\/strong> reported that they felt more confident in their leadership abilities<\/strong> after the study abroad experience and developed a greater understanding of perspectives<\/strong> and how they influence leadership styles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI learned how to lead in different and sometimes uncomfortable settings. I learned how to show up as a leader in unfamiliar places, and how to actively show empathy, understanding, and interest when in foreign locations.\u201d<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
