Leonard E. Clemons

Associate Vice Provost for Student Success

Biography

As associate vice provost, Dr. Leonard Clemons leads academic and career engagement for the Division of Student Success and works closely with the Academic Success Center, Center for Career Development & Academic Exploration, Veterans Success Center, Vol Success Teams, and campus-wide advising initiatives.

Leonard’s 10+ years in higher education includes a hybrid of academic and student service experiences related to student development and affairs, retention and success, strategic planning, and academic support. He holds a B.A. in liberal studies from Kentucky State University and a Master of Science in adult and higher education from Northern Illinois University. He holds a Doctorate of Education in higher education leadership from The University of Miami where his dissertation research focused on the advising experiences of Black students and how it shapes their sense of belonging at a predominantly White institution.

Leonard’s passion for student success resides in helping students discover who they are, defining their goals for their success, and encouraging them to achieve their dreams.
