Registration

Here’s how you’ll register:

  1. Confirm your enrollment with Undergraduate Admissions
  2. Log into your Go Vols Portal and pay or defer your $240 orientation fee 
  3. Find the “orientation” tab in your Go Vols Portal and complete the registration form

By submitting the registration form, students are registering for all required components of New Vol Orientation (New Student Advising, Vol 101, and Big Orange Welcome). Once you’ve officially registered, you’ll receive a confirmation email within 24 hours that provides a high-level overview of New Vol Orientation. Please make sure you’re registered for New Vol Orientation by August 16!

How do I defer the orientation fee?

All confirmed students are eligible to defer the fee. Follow these steps:

  1. Fill out the deferral form 
  2. Email the completed form to orientation@utk.edu

Once we receive your form, we’ll email you within 24 hours to let you know your account has been updated. From there, you’ll receive access to the “orientation” tab in your Go Vols Portal and can complete the registration form.

Give it a few days for your confirmation to be processed! If you still don’t see the orientation tab in your portal after three business days, please contact New Student Orientation.

Absolutely! All you have to do is make sure their names and contact information are included in the “additional information” section of your orientation registration.

If they are not included in your registration, they will not receive orientation emails.

Simply fill out the deferral form (above), and email it back to orientation@utk.edu. Give us 24 hours and we’ll have your account updated. From there, you’ll be able to submit your orientation registration.

Students cannot waive the orientation fee. However, if you defer the fee to your first semester bill, oftentimes, certain financial aid or scholarship funds can help cover the cost.

The $240 orientation fee covers ALL components of your New Vol Orientation experience. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Vol 101
  • Big Orange Welcome
    • Select meals
    • UT swag 
    • Weekend trips
    • Transportation
    • Other Big Orange Welcome experiences

The orientation fee is non-refundable. If you are no longer attending UT, and would like to put in a request to receive a refund, please contact New Student Orientation directly.
