What do you enjoy most about working with UT undergrads?

Seeing their ah-ha! moments and hearing their excitement for the future. Also, UTK students are very proud of their school, and it creates a sense of excitement across campus that is contagious.

What is the most important advice you would give new students?

First, don’t be afraid of asking questions. Ask in class, during faculty office hours, to other students, and to staff across campus. Questions are an essential part of the learning and success process. Second, failure isn’t the end of something. Use failure as motivation and a learning opportunity, and you can turn it into a pivot point toward success.

What is your favorite place on campus?

The Native American Interpretive Garden on the Ag Campus. It’s contains a burial mound dating to 644 A.D. and is a beautiful, peaceful place.

Where is your top study spot on campus?

Anywhere with coffee or tea!
