Biography

What do you enjoy most about working with UT undergrads?

I love that I get to be in a supporting role for student who are investing in themselves and their future. It’s an exciting and rewarding feeling when students stop by update you about how they are doing or how much of an impact you have made in their lives to help them achieve success. For me, it’s a pretty cool opportunity to be a part of their journey and success here at UT.

What is the most important advice you would give new students?

My advice to new students would be to “Stay Ready So You Don’t Have To Get Ready!” College is an important milestone in many students’ lives. The advice is simple which means go to class, take notes, study, plan ahead, stay focus, be ambitious, explore, and continue to strive for academic success, the list goes on!  This is a crucial time for students as they are elevating as leaders and it can also be a really fun time when they are utilizing the skills of time management, taking advantage of resources, attending events that are provided for them to grow individually along with their peers, and make connections while navigating through their collegiate journey!

What is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite place would be the Student Success Center. I love to see students take advantage of our services because they have a true desire to take charge and strive for success!

Why should students take advantage of the ASC?

I encourage students to take advantage of the ASC because there are many opportunities for them to strive and excel in their personal and educational endeavors. I would say the benefits of each opportunity includes talking to an academic coach to learn about learning styles, time management, how to study effectively, and  find a  balance as a college student which helps tremendously when applying those skills in their higher learning. It also includes taking advantage of academic services including tutoring and supplemental instruction. Scheduling an appointment with a coach will help student become equipped with skills that can help them inside and outside of the classroom.
