Sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research, this weeklong event gives students an opportunity to showcase their own work and learn how to become further engaged in the university\u2019s research community.<\/p>\n<p>Every year, the highlight of Research Week is the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/eureca.utk.edu\/\">Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement\u00a0<\/a>(EUR\u0113CA). EUR\u0113CA is an opportunity for students to showcase their research and creative activities from the past year. Research posters and creative projects will be on display in Hodges Library all week. Due to increased participation over the past few years, EUR\u0113CA will be divided into three groups this year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Group A: Architecture and Design;\u00a0Arts and Sciences\u2013Humanities,\u00a0Social Sciences, Visual and Performing Arts;\u00a0Communication and Information; Education, Health, and Human Sciences; Nursing; Social Work;\u00a0and Haslam College of Business students<\/p>\n<p>Group B: Honors English 298 students<\/p>\n<p>Group C: Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources; Arts and Sciences\u2013Natural Sciences; Engineering students<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is always exciting to have an entire week dedicated to the research and creative accomplishments of our undergraduate students,\u201d said Marisa Moazen, executive director of undergraduate research and community engagement. \u201cAttending an institution classified as the highest level of research activity affords our students opportunities to conduct research alongside a faculty mentor in most every discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New to Research Week this year is the 3 Minutes to Win It Research Challenge. In March, students submitted two- to three-minute videos showcasing their research. Those submissions were available for online viewing by the campus community and a panel of judges. A winner chosen by the judges, as well as the fan favorite, will be awarded certificates.<\/p>\n<p>For the second year in a row, the Office of Undergraduate Research will host a Rube Goldberg Challenge. Students, either in teams or as individuals, build an overly-complicated machine with everyday items involving multiple steps. This year, the machines must trigger an action that demonstrates school spirit. The demonstrations and judging will begin at noon on Tuesday, April 17, in the Mary Greer Room of Hodges Library.<\/p>\n<p>The Undergraduate Research Students\u2019 Association (URSA) will be hosting the ninth annual Undergraduate Research Symposium from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 13, 2018, at Hodges Library, Room 213.
