Our Mission
The Office of First-Year Experience is dedicated to providing engaging and meaningful experiences to equip first-year students with the tools needed to thrive both in and out of the classroom. The New Vol Experience at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville consists of multiple phases each designed to support the successful onboarding and transition of new students throughout their first year on Rocky Top.
New Vol Experience
Orientation consists of Vol 101-104 and includes both in-person and virtual components. Upon successful completion of
Orientation, new students will participate in Vol 105 and 106 during the fall and spring semesters.
First-Year Seminar is devoted to supporting a successful first-year experience for all new students. Our goal is to support new students’ personal, social, and academic transition to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
