Vol 103: On-Campus Experience


Vol 103 is an optional one-day, on-campus experience that gives you and your family the chance to connect with your academic college, learn about campus resources, see a residence hall, eat in Rocky Top Dining Hall, and connect with other new Vols and their families.

Vol 103 is for first-year students only; however, incoming transfer students can request to participate by emailing firstyear@utk.edu.

  • Recognize campus academic spaces, dining facilities, residence halls, and the Student Union.

  • Create meaningful connections with fellow new Vols and their families.


Vol 103 FAQs

No, Vol 103 is optional. This program is a good fit for you if you want to visit campus in the summer to connect with your academic college, UT staff, or current Vols.

Yes! You will select your date for Vol 103 when you register for Orientation.

Please email firstyear@utk.edu or call 865-974-4546. Please remember that availability is limited, so space in another session is not guaranteed.

Vol 103 is only for students who have confirmed their enrollment at UT. This is your opportunity to connect with other new Vols who will be joining you on Rocky Top in August.

If you can’t attend or prefer not to travel to campus for Vol 103, don’t worry! There are several ways to stay informed as you prepare to start classes in August.

  • The information provided during this program will also be available in Vol 101, Big Orange Welcome, and your First-Year Seminar.
  • Your family can participate in the Tennessee Family Series.
  • Watch one of the many fantastic videos that showcase UT’s beautiful campus.
