Biography

Dr. David M. Frank is Associate Teaching Professor in University Honors, and affiliated with the Departments of Philosophy and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. Since earning his Ph.D. in 2012 with a dissertation on philosophy of conservation biology at the University of Texas, Austin, Dr. Frank has taught interdisciplinary courses on ethics and philosophy of science at New York University, the University of North Carolina, Brown University, and the University of Tennessee, developing research collaborations with environmental scientists and publishing on values and ethics in environmental sciences.

As an interdisciplinary environmental philosopher, Dr. Frank’s research synthesizes insights across ethics and the natural and social sciences. His recent work has engaged with scientific and philosophical debates about invasive species and the political economy of climate change.
