Biography

Dr. Francis Canedo serves as the director of University Honors at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

With an impressive career trajectory, Dr. Canedo brings a wealth of experience and a strong academic background to this prestigious role. She joins University Honors from her previous positions as an Instructional Dean, Dean of Humanities, and tenured Foreign Language Department Chair.  

Her dedication to education is perhaps best exemplified through her past service as a board member at the Tennessee Foreign Languages Institute and as a Maxine Smith Fellow with the Tennessee Board of Regents. 

Dr. Canedo holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from East Tennessee State University, an MBA from Universidad Privada Boliviana and Universidad de Santiago de Chile, and bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Human Resources. Her diverse educational background reflects her commitment to interdisciplinary perspectives and well-rounded learning experiences. 

It’s also worth noting she possesses extensive experience working with student learning outcomes at institutions accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Her knowledge and familiarity with these accreditation agencies will ensure that the university maintains high standards of educational excellence.
