University Honors students in good standing are eligible to apply for grant funding to cover expenses related to travel (e.g. study abroad, service trips, attending a conference) or research (e.g. lab supplies).
NOTE: Haslam Leadership Scholars should request funding here.
Grant applications for research supplies and travel are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed monthly with awards granted throughout the year. Grant applications for study abroad should apply by the deadlines listed below.
January Mini-Term and Spring Semester Deadline: October 31
May Mini-Term and Summer Semester Deadline: March 31
Fall Semester and Full Academic Year Deadline: May 30
Study abroad/travel applicants: expected grant amounts depend on quality of application and length of trip. For example, for a short term study abroad, students should only expect to receive ~$500. For mini-term and summer trips, the average amount received is ~$750-1000. For longer, semester long trips, the average amount received is ~$1250-1500.
In evaluating grant applications, we consider the following:
- The overall quality of the application
- Availability of funds
- Financial need
- Scope/duration/cost of the travel/research endeavor
*No incomplete applications will be considered.*
