Laverne Harris is the Chief Operating Officer for the Division of Student Success.

Laverne is extremely passionate about student education and student success, and she ensures that she is contributing to the division’s mission by supporting the student-facing departments and professionals as they provide excellent service to students.

Laverne is an adviser and thought partner to the Vice Provost for Student Success, and she is responsible for oversight of the division’s fiscal, operations, and administrative services. She is a proponent of collaboration, strategic planning and continuous improvement and enjoys working alongside colleagues to envision and imagine the best possible version of the division. 

Laverne joined the Division of Student Success from an SEC institution of higher education where she served as an Associate Vice President. In that role, she established a shared services unit and oversaw fiscal and administrative service delivery.

Laverne is also a proponent of life-long learning, and she holds master’s degrees in business administration and educational psychology.
