Phoebe Bates

Phoebe Bates serves as the Lead Director of Marketing & Communications for the Division of Student Success at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

In this role, she leads the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives, oversees brand management, and drives storytelling efforts that elevate the Division of Student Success and enhance the student experience.

Phoebe brings 10 years of experience in advertising, with a strong background in project management, client relations, and digital strategy.

Prior to joining UT, she served as a Senior Account Executive at The Tombras Group, the 2025 Ad Age Agency of the Year, where she led integrated campaigns for nationally recognized brands and built a reputation for collaborative leadership and results-driven strategy.

A Knoxville native, Phoebe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts Management & Communication from the College of Charleston. She is deeply passionate about connecting students with the resources they need to succeed during their time at UT and long after graduation.
