Biography

Dr. Talisha Adams oversees University Honors where she leads transformative initiatives designed to enhance academic excellence and student achievement to help high-achieving students to reach their full potential, preparing them for impactful leadership and service in their communities and beyond.

Adams previously provided strategic direction and assessment of UT’s retention and persistence efforts to support scholars who identify as first-generation, low-income, and/or students of color.

Adams has a B.S. in psychology, Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs, and Ed.D. in educational leadership.

She has a variety of higher education experience including housing and residence life, student activities, academic advising, academic support and learning assistance, first-year experience, access initiatives, and summer bridge programs.

One of Adams’ favorites quotes by Dr. Maya Angelou states, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Therefore, she believes it is important for educators to ensure that every interaction leaves scholars and colleagues feeling like they matter and belong.
