National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)

Get paid to do research for 8-10 weeks in the summer. There are over 600 locations across the country (and some international) to choose from. Most NSF REU programs pay full stipends, provide housing, meal allowances, and pay for travel to and from your research location. Some programs are available here on UT’s campus.

These opportunities are available to US Citizens and Legal Permanent Residents only. Each program has their own list of application requirements, so GPA, lab experience, and deadlines will vary. If you are interested in graduate school, NSF REUs are a great way to make early connections with faculty and research teams at a university that interests you. See all available programs on the NSF REU website. Search by research interest, desired location, or potential grad school location.
