Academic Course Community

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is committed to providing unique opportunities for its scholars. One of the ways UT is doing that is with its newest initiative – the Academic Course Community.

Select incoming first-year scholars in Pre-Health in the College of Arts & Science or scholars in the Tickle College of Engineering will be enrolled in their respective communities, as well as several courses in their degree program.

In addition, this cohort will have access to specialized resources including success workshops, academic coaching, and peer learning assistance throughout fall 2023.

Courses within the Academic Course Community will allow for tight-knit relationships with peers and faculty and active engagement between courses.

Benefits

While there are many benefits to the Academic Course Community, there are three key experiences that are hallmarks of this program:

  1. Cohort-based learning experience that will foster intimate connections with peers with similar academic interests and faculty.
  2. Virtual advising is more focused on student’s academic dreams, career paths, and personal well-being.
  3. Enhanced academic support, tailored to interests of the students in the Academic Course Community – aimed to help them succeed.
