Faculty Funding/Support for Undergraduate Research

Semester and summer funding is available for faculty who are interested in guiding students in undergraduate research either in the context of a research cohort or through one-on-one mentorship.

Fall Spring Summer
Faculty Research Assistants Funding (FRAF) 

Faculty members apply for funding to hire paid undergraduate research assistants during the fall, spring, and summer terms.

Department Research Assistantship (DRA) Program

Funding available for all UT/UTIA academic departments to hire a semester-long Pell-eligible and/or first-generation undergraduate assistant to support a faculty member’s research/creative project.

Advanced Undergraduate Research Activity (AURA)
Students can apply for funding to pursue advanced research or creative production, with the support of their faculty mentor.
Group Travel Grants

Faculty can apply for funding to provide partial supplementary support to three or more actively enrolled UT/UTIA researchers/performers who have been accepted to present or perform at a non-UT sponsored conference or event.

Federal Work Study Assistantships
URFS has coordinated with Financial Aid & Scholarships in order to allow students to use their federal work-study funds for positions as undergraduate research assistants for faculty at UT. FWS How To Handout
