UTSA Instruction
Students are required to complete two courses as scholars in the UT Success Academy. These courses are First-Year Studies 101 and BUAD 100 for first-year students and COUN 205: Understanding Majors and Careers for second-year students.
Overview:
FYS 101 – A one-credit introductory course that aids in the transition of students to college life. Students will discuss strengths, leadership, well-being, and making the most of their experience in college. All instructors must have a master’s degree. Applicants must also be faculty, exempt staff status, or current graduate students.
BUAD 100 – A one-credit introductory course to college life in the Haslam College of Business. This course is reserved for business students only. All instructors must have a master’s degree. Applicants must also be faculty, exempt staff status, or current graduate students.
COUN 205 – A one-credit course for second-year UTSA students to further explore their career interests and understand how their personal strengths connect to their professional aspirations. All instructors must have a master’s degree. Applicants must also be faculty, exempt staff status, or current graduate students.
Compensation
The compensation varies by position at the university; generally speaking, instructors are compensated $2,000 for each section taught unless it is written into the position the individual holds.
