Q&A

What do you enjoy most about working with UT undergrads?

What I enjoy most about working with undergraduates is hearing them talk about their goals. In those conversations, I see their determination, their vulnerability, and the pride they take in their growth. I love highlighting the strengths they don’t always notice in themselves and helping them recognize that they truly are capable of accomplishing incredible things.

What is the most important advice you would give new students?

As cliché as it may sound, community truly matters- find something fun or something challenging & show up! Form study groups with classmates, connect with other motivated students and staff at the Vol Study Center, or join clubs that help you relax and recharge. Don’t just walk in and out of class without a word; start a conversation with the person sitting next to you. Get involved with SGA, try an intramural sport, or step into something new—whether it’s fun, challenging, or both. Your time on this campus is what you make it- Let’s make it well-balanced.

What is your favorite place on campus?

Circle Park- A quieter corner on campus, with the Natural History Museum nearby if I want a quick browse. The landscaping and gardening are always immaculate, and there’s a constant view of the torchbearer.

Why should students take advantage of the ASC?

Think of the ASC as your directory on campus. Our office is filled with staff members who truly want to help you succeed- small or big. Our doors are always open for a chat.
