Work at ASC

ASC offers many opportunities for undergraduates, graduate students, and higher education professionals looking to gain experience in leadership positions. For more information please visit Human Resources.

Undergraduate student positions at ASC often require that students work alongside faculty, fostering relationships and expanding academic knowledge. ASC employs undergraduate students to serve as Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders, Peer Learning Assistants (PLAs), and student assistants. All ASC student positions require a commitment to the ASC mission and the pursuit of excellence. Student positions come with the opportunity to work in a professional environment and to develop skills needed for the work force.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Are you a graduate student looking for an assistantship?  The ASC Graduate Teaching Assistant will assist with ASC programs such as Peer Learning Assistance, Supplemental Instruction (SI), outreach, and assessment. Graduate Practicum Position Are you a graduate student looking for a practicum experience?  The ASC offers practicum positions working with all aspects of student success: PLAs/SI leaders, coaching, probation/dismissal, assessment, and more. We offer semester and yearlong positions.

Student Worker The ASC student worker assists in welcoming students, staff, and all visitors to the Academic Success Center. If you enjoy working in an office environment assisting students, consider applying. The ASC currently has available positions for the fall and spring semester for both federal work study and non-federal work study positions. For more information and to apply, click the links below. Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader Want to help your fellow students be more academically successful? SI Leaders hold group study sessions several times a week for selected courses where the SI Leader helps students review and understand course content. To apply:

  • Reference – Send this link to two references in order to complete your application packet.  Your references should include at least one faculty member from the department you’d like your SI class to be in.

Peer Learning Assistant (PLA) Do your peers often come to you for help in their classes? Do you enjoy helping fellow classmates better understand course material? Then being an ASC PLA might be the job for you! ASC employs learning assistants in many different subjects. Schedules are flexible and based on student demand. The ASC accepts applications year round. As PLA positions open throughout the year (mostly in April and November), the ASC will contact applicants to set up an interview.

The Academic Success Center professional staff is comprised of several executive, managerial, and administrative level positions. Please see our Bios page for information on current staff. Most employment with ASC follows the academic calendar, but position start times, length of service, and pay rates vary. Qualifications and expectations will be listed with position descriptions. The ASC does not currently have open staff positions.
