Biography

What do you enjoy most about working with UT undergrads?

I love working with UT students!  I enjoy learning about students as individuals: their stories, goals, and dreams.  The college experience is all about growth and development and really learning about yourself as a person.  It’s exciting to encourage and challenge students as they are navigating this experience.

What is the most important advice you would give new students?

Challenge yourself to create friendships with people who support you, to engage with professors, and to utilize resources on campus.  There are so many opportunities available to meet new people and develop healthy relationships.  It’s important to create a community of support on campus.  Your academic coach can also be a part of that network of support.

What is your favorite place on campus?

It’s hard to decide.  Today I’ll say the Clarence Brown Theatre; I’ve seen so many excellent productions there!  Plus, it’s been around a long time (way before I came here as an undergrad), so it’s a classic!

Why should students take advantage of the ASC?

The Academic Success Center is a warm and friendly place.  If you’d like to discuss study strategies, getting organized, setting goals, getting involved, making friends, motivation, procrastination, or anything that you are going through, coaches are here to help!  Coaching conversations are all about making the most of your experience as a UT student.  Through the Vol Study Center, we offer Peer Learning Assistant Study Sessions, Supplemental Instruction, quiet space, printing, and snacks.  We care about our students, and we want students to feel that support and encouragement.
