Erin Darby

Biography

Dr. Erin Darby is the inaugural faculty director for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships. In this capacity, Darby is charged with growing UT’s undergraduate research enterprise and more profoundly embedding research in the UT undergraduate experience. She is a past recipient of the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year Award (2020) as well as the Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year Award (2018) from the Office of Undergraduate Research & Fellowships. As a faculty member in the Department of Religious Studies and an active archaeological project director, Darby works with undergraduate researchers from UT and beyond. Her research has taken her all over the Middle East and Mediterranean, particularly Israel, Jordan, Syria, and Cyprus. Darby has a doctorate in religion from Duke University and is an expert in the archaeology of religion, coroplastic studies, and ancient Hebrew literature.
