Reaching the finish line
At UT, you have resources that’ll help you finish the semester strong. Go to Vol Success Week during midterms and Big Orange Finish Line before finals for fun events to support you and keep you focused.
Check out the schedule on Vol Connect and get updates from the Student Success Instagram!
Get involved
Finding your community on campus takes your college experience to another level. There are 450+ clubs and organizations for your major, your hobbies, and your newfound interests on campus. The best part is that you can try new things all the time!
Use Vol Connect to find events and VOLink to get involved.
Stay organized
Everyone has a system for staying organized. We suggest using a spreadsheet or whiteboard to track your assignments or color coding your classes in Canvas.
Save time in your schedule for fun, too. The perk of staying organized is that you make room for all parts of your life at UT.
Stay focused
Two things: find your perfect study spot and minimize distractions. Being intentional with where you study allows your productivity to flow. With a campus as beautiful and a city as large as ours, you’ll discover options that work for you!
Tap into your strengths
You have all the natural talents you need to do big things. Our tip? Learning how those talents help you reach your goals. Complete your CliftonStrengths assessment and use that information when taking big steps.
Show up and show out
Vols, go to class.
Even better, be active in all your classes by introducing yourself to your instructors, chatting with classmates, and reviewing your class content regularly.
If you’re unable to attend your classes, talk to your instructors. They will help you stay on track.
Prepare for life after college
What’s next after graduation? You may not know, and that’s okay!
Vol Edge, UT’s life and career readiness resource, covers all the basics you need to know to set yourself up for success while you’re enrolled at UT.
Manage your time
College life is busy! It’s up to you to manage your time well.
We recommend figuring out what works for you. Maybe that’s waking up early (or staying up late) to knock out some assignments or sticking to scheduled study blocks in your calendars.
Whatever you do, make sure it’s sustainable in the long run.
Strong study habits
Studying is only as effective as you make it (as in, your study playlist may not actually help you study).
Explore new study nooks and establish your tried-and-true habits to build your best routine. Get creative, you never know what’ll work for you!
Reach out and use resources
Vols never do anything alone. Whatever support you need, whether that’s connecting with your Vol Success Team, your instructors, or the other campus academic-support services, we have you covered.
Using generative AI
Use your mind, your voice, and your effort to succeed at UT.
If you have questions about using generative AI in your coursework, check with your instructors and campus academic-support services. Always review your syllabus to see if generative AI use is permitted and be respectful of your instructor’s policies.
