First-Generation Initiatives offers several awards and recognitions that honor students at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Each award highlights the leadership skills and outstanding accomplishments of members of our campus community.
Emerging Leader Scholarship
The First-Generation Emerging Leader Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate first-generation students for their commitment to academic excellence, scholarly achievement, leadership development. First-generation students are eligible to apply for the scholarship in the amount of $500 dollars in the spring semester. Scholarship funds will be applied to UTK student accounts in the subsequent fall semester pending enrollment verification.

Trailblazer Award
The Trailblazer award recognizes two exceptional first-generation seniors for their outstanding achievements throughout their four years at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Recipients of the Trailblazer Award must be nominated by a current faculty and/or staff member and be graduating in either Spring, Summer, or Fall semesters of the nominating year.

Advocate Award
The First-Generation Advocate Award recognizes outstanding leadership, advocacy, and contributions of faculty, staff, and administrators in promoting an inclusive and welcoming climate that respects a diverse campus community at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
