Quality Enhancement Plan

Advancing Student Well-Being, Strengths, and Career Readiness

A shared commitment to ensuring every student thrives continues to shape the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s approach to learning, support, and success.

Within the Division of Student Success, the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) serves as a living framework—one that continues to evolve as we refine our focus and align with the university’s and division’s strategic goals.

Although SACSCOC does not require a QEP in the current accreditation cycle, UT remains deeply invested in this work because of its impact on student persistence, completion, and life beyond graduation.

Building on the original QEP’s focus on well-being and career readiness, which directly support our graduation and career development goals, the QEP has added strengths as a third core tenet—reflecting our mission to leverage every student’s potential by intentionally building confidence, enhancing well-being, and strengthening self-efficacy in the job market.

Together, these focus areas align with UT’s graduation goals, career outcomes, and enduring commitment to unlocking the potential of every Volunteer.

What’s New and What’s Growing

The QEP brings exciting new and expanded opportunities for faculty and staff to engage in this work, including:

  • Three Faculty Fellows programs aligned to well-being, strengths, and career readiness

  • Student Success Grants to support innovative, student-centered ideas

  • Ready-to-use tools for classroom and student support environments

  • A new on-campus internship program designed to expand experiential learning

  • An enhanced data and assessment strategy to inform continuous improvement

Together, these efforts position the QEP as a dynamic, forward-looking strategy—one that connects academic and co-curricular work, energizes our campus community, and keeps student success at the center of everything we do.

QEP Goals

  1. Support each student in using Strengths Learning to enhance their academic and career development.

  2. Help each student develop the Academic Well-Being skills, strategies, and connections to thrive academically.

  3. Prepare each student to pursue post-graduation goals with confidence through Career Readiness experiences.
