The Center for Career Development & Academic Exploration offers multiple appointment types. Schedule an appointment online by visiting Vol Connect through your MyUTK account. For questions, call us at 865-974-5435.
Appointment topics could include, but are not limited to:
- Major exploration (choosing or changing a major)
- Internship and experiential opportunities
- Resume, cover letter, LinkedIn reviews
- Practice interviews
- Job-seeking strategies (including networking and career fair preparation)
- Graduate school preparation
To schedule a Career Coaching Appointment, follow the steps below.

- Log into your MyUTK account
- Select “Academic Support” from the options at the top of the screen and select “Vol Connect” from the dropdown menu. This will take you to the Vol Connect student portal.
- Click “Connect” from the options at the top of the screen and select “Schedule Appointments” from the dropdown menu.
- Click the blue “Schedule an Appointment” button.
- Select the “Teams” tab.
- Select the Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration.
- Select the topic (Career Coaching) and subtopic. The subtopic will either be Unsure of Major or the College or Industry area that best aligns with your interests and goals.
- Select the preferred date, time, staff member, and modality.
- Indicate what you would like to discuss during your appointment in the comment box.
- To confirm the appointment, click “Schedule ___ Appointment.” Your appointment will NOT be saved until you click this button.
- Please call 865-974-5435 if you have problems scheduling your appointment online.
Recent alumni may not be able to use Vol Connect; however, the CCDAE meets with alumni up to a year after graduation. To schedule an appointment with your Career Coach, call our main line at 865-974-5435 or email the appropriate Career Coach for your industry/college.
Current University Exploratory Students
Continuing students in the University Exploratory major will receive an email to schedule an appointment before course registration begins. Students who would like to meet before then or additionally should contact their ACE Coach directly.
Current University Transition Students
Continuing students in the University Transition major will receive an email to schedule an appointment before course registration begins. Students who would like to meet before then or additionally should contact their ACE Coach directly.
Declaring University Exploratory or University Transition
Students who want to declare the University Exploratory or University Transition majors should complete the intake form. Students will receive an email to schedule an appointment.
Readmitted/Dismissal Reinstatement
The ACE Team is available to help readmitted students or those participating in dismissal reinstatement with major exploration and parallel planning. Students should complete the intake form. Students will receive an email to schedule an appointment.
Attend Drop-In Hours if you need assistance with one of the following topics:
- Resumes
- Cover Letters
- Handshake
- Job and Internship Search
- Quick Interview Questions
- Professional Headshots
Drop-In Hours will be 10-15 minute sessions with a Peer Career Advisor trained to assist you and guide you to appropriate resources for the above topics. You can find the updated hours on our homepage. Drop in hours are not offered during the summer semester.
