Summer 2024 applications open in Handshake in November.
The Congressional Internship Program is a scholarship and nomination program designed to enhance students’ opportunities to work with Tennessee’s Legislators in Washington, D.C. Students who are selected to participate will secure an internship in Congress and will be awarded a scholarship to offset costs of living in Washington D.C. for the duration of the internship.
Congressional interns work closely with legislative staff on a variety of projects, as well as assist with clerical tasks, depending upon the office in which they intern. Summer internships last approximately six – ten weeks and begin either in May or July. Fall and spring internships last approximately 13-15 weeks and begin in September or January, depending on the semester and the office. Academic credit is an option, depending on coursework and major.
