Veterans Impact Program

Born at UT. Built for Veterans. Modeled Nationwide.

Are you a veteran and first-time, first-degree-seeking student? We’re proud to welcome you with a program uniquely designed to guide and empower your transition to college life — the Veteran Impact Program (VIP)!

VIP was created and launched in the fall of 2022 by the Veteran Success Center — making UT the first university in the country to establish a program of this kind specifically for incoming student veterans.

Since its launch, VIP has continued to grow each year and has become a national model, with institutions across the country developing their own versions inspired by UT’s success.

This two-semester cohort-based experience is designed to help veteran scholars confidently transition to college life, build strong community connections, and succeed both academically and professionally!

What to Expect from the Veteran Impact Program

As a VIP participant, you’ll:

  • Connect with fellow student veterans in a close-knit, supportive cohort;
  • Receive personalized support from the Veteran Success Center throughout your first year;
  • Meet monthly with Veteran Academic Coaches for one-on-one guidance in academic planning, time management, and goal setting;
  • Access essential resources in academics, wellness, and financial aid;
  • Complete the Vol Edge modules through the TRNS 201 course to gain career-ready skills as part of UT’s signature Vol Edge program; and
  • Earn up to $1,000 in stipends — $500 after your first semester, and another $500 after completing your first year and program requirements

How to Apply

Log in to your Go Vols Portal and find the VIP application under the “Just for Me” section!

The Veteran Impact Program is more than just a support initiative — it’s a launchpad for long-term success. Through connection, coaching, and community, VIP equips you with the tools and confidence to thrive at UT and beyond!
